1. General information
US LOGISTICS MMC recommends that clients confirm their insurance choice in advance when transporting a vehicle. Insurance is intended to reduce the client’s financial risks in cases of vehicle damage, total loss, or theft during the confirmed international sea-shipping stage.
US LOGISTICS MMC is not an insurance company, insurer, or guarantor of compensation payment. The company provides services for organizing vehicle transportation, accepting the client’s insurance choice, forwarding information, and supporting communication during a possible insurance claim.
The final decision on whether an event is recognized as an insured event, the compensation amount, deductible, exclusions, or refusal of payment is made by the relevant insurance company, carrier, ocean shipping line, terminal, inspector/surveyor, responsible party, or another authorized party.
2. Insurance stage
Insurance applies only to the separately agreed and confirmed international sea-shipping stage: US loading port → Poti, Georgia.
Unless otherwise expressly confirmed in writing or electronically, insurance does not apply to inland pickup, auction yard, warehouse, pre-loading storage, Poti → Baku route, customs clearance, local delivery, later storage, or vehicle use.
3. Adding insurance
The client confirms the wish to add insurance in advance verbally, in writing, or electronically and signs/confirms the relevant insurance selection statement.
If the vehicle has already started moving on the route, has been loaded, accepted by the carrier, or shipped, adding insurance may be impossible or may require separate confirmation from the responsible party.
4. Insurance cost and payment
Unless otherwise agreed, the insurance cost is calculated based on the auction invoice amount: 1% of the auction invoice amount, minimum 75 USD.

The insurance cost is included in the transportation invoice or another agreed payment document and is paid as part of that document. Unless the parties separately agree otherwise in writing or electronically, separate advance payment of the insurance fee is not required.
The client’s choice and statement confirm the intention to add insurance. However, actual insurance arrangement, coverage application, and recognition of an event as an insured event depend on confirmation and rules of the relevant responsible party.
5. Deductible
A deductible or other deductions may apply to insurance cases. Unless otherwise agreed, preliminary deductible guidelines may be:
- for vehicles declared without damage: 3% of the vehicle value, minimum 250 USD;
- for damaged vehicles: 3% of the vehicle value, minimum 500 USD.
The final deduction amount depends on the insurance company’s or responsible party’s terms, nature of damage, vehicle value, and documents for the specific case.
6. What insurance may cover
Depending on the specific program, route, period, and documents, insurance may cover vehicle damage, total loss, theft, or other documented events during the confirmed sea-shipping stage.
Insurance is not an unconditional guarantee of full compensation for any loss. The payment amount, recognition of an event as insured, and applicable exclusions are determined by the decision of the relevant responsible party.
7. Main exclusions and pre-existing damage
Insurance usually does not cover pre-existing damage, hidden defects, mechanical, electrical, or technical failures, wear, corrosion, scratches, stone chips, cosmetic defects, color changes, personal belongings, missing accessories, keys or parts, auction/seller information errors, and other cases not recognized as an insured event.
Damage that occurred before the confirmed insured period begins at the auction yard, warehouse, loading yard, open yard, during inland pickup, or during pre-loading storage may usually not be recognized as an insured event.
8. What to do if damage is found
When receiving the vehicle, opening the container, or discovering damage, the client must immediately notify US LOGISTICS MMC. Recommended notification time: as soon as possible after discovering the damage, ideally within 24 hours.
Before damage is documented, it is not recommended to repair the vehicle, replace parts, remove damage traces, discard damaged parts, or sign documents without reservations when visible damage exists.
9. Documents and claim review
The client must provide available evidence and information: vehicle photos and videos, receiving date and place, description of the discovered damage, repair estimate, invoices, receiver contact details, and other available materials that may be required for claim review.
US LOGISTICS MMC, when technically possible, helps obtain or request documents held by the terminal, carrier, ocean shipping line, port, warehouse, partners, or other responsible persons. Such documents may include terminal/container acts, photos of the container and seals, carrier documents, handover documents, and other materials required for claim preparation.
10. Limitation of liability
The information on this page is general information and is not an individual insurance policy, public offer, or unconditional compensation guarantee. Specific terms may differ depending on the route, carrier, vehicle condition, nature of damage, documents, and decision of the responsible party.
